VIA Rail and UP Express partnership

The partnership between VIA Rail and Union Pearson Express (UP Express) allows all travellers along VIA Rail’s routes to seamlessly link to Canada’s busiest airport, Toronto Pearson. This intermodal agreement is designed to improve the transportation and transit network in our region, by creating a faster, more convenient and reliable choice for getting to the airport from downtown Toronto.

Destinations

UP Express connects Canada’s two busiest transportation hubs, Toronto Pearson International Airport and Union Station in downtown Toronto in just 25 minutes. Trains depart every 15 minutes.

Booking Your Ticket

It’s as easy as 1-2-3! VIA Rail and UP Express tickets can now be purchased in one single transaction on?viarail.ca:

1. Use the booking widget on this page (Scroll to the top of the page).
2. Under the ‘Book’ section, choose your train connection. To select UP Express, please look for TORONTO PEARSON AIRPORT, ON
3. Pay for your ticket and you’re ready to go.

Conditions

UP Express Tickets Issued by VIA Rail

UP Express tickets issued by VIA Rail are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and non-refundable, and are valid for any train on the date specified. Seating cannot be guaranteed.

Children 11 years old and under can travel for free on UP Express when accompanied by an adult, youth (12-25 years old) or senior (60+).

Guests must present their ticket along with photo identification to UP Express staff upon request.
Use of UP Express is subject to, and deemed acceptance of, the Terms and Conditions available at www.upexpress.com

Connections

To allow plenty of time for check-in procedures, baggage drop-off and security checks, we recommend that you always arrive at your airport terminal well in advance of your scheduled flight.

For guests connecting to VIA Rail services, we recommend that you always arrive at Union Station well in advance of your scheduled train.

Connection between Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 of Toronto Pearson International Airport is provided by the Terminal Link train, a free service by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority. UP Express station is directly adjacent to the Terminal Link train station in Terminal 1.

VIA Rail Canada and UP Express are not liable for missed connections or missed flights.

Baggage Allowance

No checked baggage service is provided. Carry-on baggage only, space permitting. Each item cannot exceed 32kg (70lb) and/or 158cm in linear dimensions (length + width + height). Larger items are to be placed in available oversized baggage storage spaces. Baggage must be carried or packaged in a suitable manner. UP Express reserves the right to refuse baggage, including but not limited to items that may cause injury, danger or inconvenience, damage to property or delay to trains. Bicycles are not permitted on the train unless folded or packed.

Special Assistance

All UP Express stations and trains are fully accessible. UP Express offers special assistance at Union Station and Pearson Station only.

Guests requiring special assistance at Union Station should call 1.844.GET.ON.UP (1.844.438.6687) at least one day prior to their trip, to help ensure UP Express staff are fully equipped to handle your needs. Please note that UP Express does not offer baggage handling services.
